How To Start A Fellowship Group In Your Church?
This process should be approached no differently from when organizing a corporation designed to promote the growth of a community. There are several books that you may purchase for exclusive instruction on this subject. Please use our affiliates or sponsored links to begin your book search.
The first order of business should be appointing the executive officers of the group (President, VP, and Treasure). It is the privilege of the Executive Officers to finalize all group decisions except where it is prudent to base group decisions on a group vote.
All group missions should receive prior approval from the Church’s head Pastor before they are presented to the common group members. The Executive Officers should use discretion when making The Groups Foundation privy to missions not yet approved by the Pastor. Ultimately all such missions should serve the best interest of the Pastor and his church. It is the burden of the Executive Officers to oversee the proper proceedings of all group missions that are set forth.
Then a fundraising system should be established and duties should be delegated to all members of the group (from the common member to the President). The group should not place a membership limit in order to maximize fundraising potential. However, thirteen of the groups most prudent members should be recognized and appointed to serve as The Groups Foundation.
Every member of the group should be required to pay monthly membership dues ($10). The executive officers should be required to pay twice the amount of dues paid by the common members. The President should pay four times the amount. Members should be allowed to pay membership dues for their fellows.
The executive officers should schedule monthly group events in order to promote “Group Spirit” and agendas, as well as attract and accept new members into the group by distributing invitations to people of good character and influence within the community.
The common members should be continuously reminded of how much good they have done in their community and church, and they should at all times be addressed as Sister or Brother and their last name. This will make them feel like natural leaders in their community and church so that they may be motivated to continue their good service. The Executive Officers should set forth multiple fundraising goals. These goals should be presented, supported, and enforced by the Executive Officers. Individual members should receive recognition for outstanding service as often as possible.
The Executive Officers and common members of the group should work attentively and diplomatically with Executive Officers and members of other groups within the church and community in order to help them reach their fundraising goals. The entire group should pitch in and assist other groups with their projects so that your group can be entitled to the same benefits when attempting to reach its fundraising goals.
THE NINE RULES OF THE FELLOWSHIP
How members of the group should conduct themselves
One
A fellow must never initiate any projects or present activities to his church without prior approval from his pastor. A members actions may not extend beyond the limitations granted by his pastor. A member may only file complaints with his paster and Fellowship Leader. These rules should be observed by each member as a symbol of fellowship and respect for his pastor and fellows. Each member should display a conduct of discipline regarding all matters he engages within the church and community. Each member is responsible for being a role model of good moral character for his entire community. One should not be allowed to remain a member of the Fellowship if he or she fails to uphold these rules.
Two
Each member must uphold the expected reputation for being trustworthy to all members of his church and community. He must never give a false report against anyone and must never repeat or support a report against anyone if he knows it to be false. If he is given a harmful report against a fellow he must demand proof before accepting it. If a fellow overhears someone in the community giving a harmful report against his church, his pastor, or his fellows he should be prompt in defending them. He should never divulge information received from his fellows in confidence. When he gives his word or makes a promise to his fellows he should do everything in his power to keep it. He should always think of the groups policies before he speaks.
Three
Each member should at all times display a high level of loyalty to his fellows and his community. He should recognize that his fellows are his brothers, and thus, they depend on his contributions. He should take the time to explain these expectations to his family. He should understand that he will be expected to perform these duties because his church and fellows regards him as a leader in his community. A member should not make unreasonable demands of his fellows.
Four
Each member should display attentiveness in offering assistance to the members of his church and community whenever assistance is requested, or a need is apparent, or if a crisis arise, or a distress call is made. He should make every effort to assist until the situation becomes under control or is resolved. He should only provide assistance in a manner that is constructive and will help to improve the situation. He should not make a situation worse. He should make every effort to take part in fundraising activities whether along side his fellows, his church, or community. A fellow should recognize that his attendance in church and group meetings is important because he is setting examples for others in his community. He must display attentiveness by being present at mass and other church ceremonies because his presence is a representation of support to his pastor and fellows. He should take care to be on time out of respect for his fellows and pastor.
Five
Each member should carry himself in a manner so that everyone may consider him to be one who is courteous. He should address the members of his church as Brother or Sister and their last name. He should address members of his community as Ma’am or Sir. He should always interact with everyone in the community in a manner that is proper and civilized. Holding the door open for a lady and the elderly, and acting with consideration for the happiness and welfare of the children and all members of his community.
Six
Each member should recognize and respect the command structure being exercised within his group. He should understand that such a structure was formed for a very good administrative reason and he should make an effort to support and uphold it. When he receives instructions from his group leaders he should carry them out effectively, and as a symbol of respect to his fellows. If he wishes to make a complaint, or give a report of concern he should do so in writing, then submit it to his proper chain of command so that it can receive the proper consideration.
Seven
Each member’s appearance and manner of speech should be observed by all members of his church and community as such that can be described as Clean, civil, and Sharp. He should never give an opinion that may be thought to be offensive. He should never make a statement that may be considered crude or inconsiderate. He should never use language that is characterized as profane. He should only dress in attire that promotes a good and professional character in his community.
Eight
Each member should conduct himself in a manner so that the members of his church will observe that he is a man who is reverent. He must always show his Pastor his support in times when the Pastor or other church leaders are engaged in preaching the word of God. He must recognize, declare, and profess that he is but an instrument of God who is privileged to be in the service of God to his community.
Nine
Each member should conduct himself in a professional manner at all times when engaged in projects that involves women. He must interact with the women in his church and community in a manner that suggests that he hold a high level of respect for all women, and especially those whom are married. He must understand that families are the basis of his community and he should support and promote the principles of building a good and strong family. He should never take any action or offer any advice that could bring harm to a family, or ultimately lead to the deconstruction of a marriage or family. If a marriage is in distress the only council he may give is that which is useful in restoring the marriage. Womens groups should conduct themselves likewise in regards to men. A fellow should conduct himself with such discipline and mature conduct in this matter that women will consider him to be a man who is incorruptible. Even to the extent that both men and women become discouraged at the task of corrupting him.
